About this site

TradingView is a global multi-asset charting and community platform spanning equities, futures, FX and crypto. Within the crypto industry it has become the de-facto charting standard — most traders looking at a "K-line" are either on the TradingView site itself or inside an exchange's embedded TradingView component.

The feature set centers on charting and scripting. Comprehensive bar types (daily, hourly, minute and custom intervals, Renko, Heikin Ashi). More than 100 built-in technical indicators and drawing tools. Pine Script, a proprietary scripting language that lets users build custom indicators and strategies. Multi-exchange price aggregation, allowing the same instrument to be switched across venues. A community ideas board with public bullish/bearish analyses. Trader-facing tools including watchlists, alerts, back-testing and paper trading.

Three usage profiles dominate. Technical-analysis-led short-term and swing traders use it as their daily primary workspace. Quantitative or semi-quantitative users write Pine scripts to back-test simple strategies. Content creators capture chart screenshots with annotations as analytical material.

Its differentiator is the charting ecosystem. Crypto-only charting sites such as CryptoWatch partially substitute for it, but no competitor matches the depth of the script community, the indicator library, or the drawing-tool completeness. The trade-off is that the free tier limits concurrent charts, alerts and intervals, and heavy users typically move to a paid plan.

Limitations and caveats: chart prices are sourced directly from exchanges and minor cross-source spreads can appear, so precise execution should reference the target exchange's own data; community ideas are user-generated opinions of varying quality and must never serve as a trading rule; any indicator signal, automated strategy or community post is a research aid only and does not constitute investment advice. Crypto-asset volatility means technical patterns can fail in low-liquidity sessions.
