Phantom
The strongest browser-extension wallet for the Solana ecosystem, also covering Ethereum and Polygon with polished NFT support.
About this site
Phantom is the leading self-custodial wallet for the Solana ecosystem, created and run independently. Its product thesis is "MetaMask for Solana" — a browser-extension entry point that consolidates Solana transfers, staking, DEX trading, and NFT browsing into a clean unified interface — and its scope has since expanded to Ethereum, Polygon, Base, and other EVM chains, as well as Bitcoin and Sui.
The product covers four areas. Cross-chain support: Solana as the core, with EVM mainstream chains, Bitcoin, and Sui added, switchable within one interface. NFT experience: purpose-built browsing, rarity display, and bulk management tuned for Solana NFTs. dApp integration: connections to Solana mainstays such as Magic Eden, Jupiter, and Marinade. A mobile app, a browser extension, and hardware-wallet pairing complete the surface. Solana-native asset types — SPL tokens, stablecoins, liquid staking derivatives — render natively.
Three usage profiles benefit. Solana power users use it for daily asset management and trading. NFT participants browse and trade on top Solana markets like Magic Eden and Tensor. Users active in both Solana and EVM ecosystems want a single wallet for cross-chain accounts.
The differentiator is Solana-native depth paired with a modern UX. MetaMask is the EVM default but is weak on Solana; Solflare also focuses on Solana but Phantom's investment in NFT presentation and UX polish is notably ahead. Its move into EVM addresses the "single-chain wallet" limitation. The trade-off is that non-Solana chain depth still lags MetaMask within EVM.
Limitations, security, and compliance: in self-custody, the user is fully responsible for the seed phrase and private keys, **and any loss or leak permanently destroys access to assets**. The Solana "message sign" capability has been abused as an attack vector — read source and permissions carefully before signing. Browser extensions are phishing targets; install only from official domains and treat any "re-enter seed phrase" prompt as hostile. dApp interactions carry contract risk, liquidity risk, and NFT-market volatility. This wallet does not constitute investment advice; users should evaluate legal and compliance posture in their own jurisdiction before participating.
