Lunar ↔ Gregorian converter

The Gregorian (solar) calendar follows Earth’s orbit around the Sun and is used worldwide. The Chinese lunar calendar is a lunisolar system: months follow new and full moons, while the year is aligned to solar terms (节气).

A lunar year has about 12 months (~354 days). An extra leap month is inserted every few years so seasons stay aligned with the solar year. The same lunar birthday falls on different Gregorian dates each year—convert annually if you celebrate by lunar date.

The sexagenary cycle (干支) pairs heavenly stems and earthly branches; the 12 zodiac animals map to the branches. Western constellations use Gregorian dates. Calculations here are for cultural reference and convenience only.

• Leap month: an entire extra lunar month—check “Leap lunar month” when converting dates in that month.
• Solar terms: the traditional year boundary follows terms such as “Start of Spring”; this may differ from the lunar New Year (正月初一).
• Birthday reminders: if you celebrate a lunar birthday, use the “this year / next year” Gregorian dates to plan ahead.
