FFmpeg is the universal command-line backbone of audio and video processing: transcoding, cutting, merging, subtitle muxing, frame extraction and streaming. Almost every video tool ships it underneath, and developers wire it into CI pipelines for watermarking, thumbnails and HLS segmenting.
